It’s quite simple, when pups are in a new environment/home, they don’t yet know where the best place to toilet is yet. This is where you step in…..
Take puppy outside to the area that you want them to toilet in, do this every 30 mins in the beginning. Yes, it seems a lot, however being consistent in the beginning, your puppy will learn faster to take themselves outside.
Put puppy down on the grass, only say “Toilet”, if puppy needs to go, he/she will do so within a minute-5 minutes. Be patient. Once puppy has toileted, then they can be given lots of praise and or a treat.
As a rule, your puppy will want to toilet as soon as they wake, so it’s always a good idea to be ready. Don’t scold your puppy if they have an accident inside, still take them outside to their toileting area.
